read my review below!

I remember when I first secured my tickets to see Olivia Rodrigo and Holly Humberstone like it was yesterday. I was disheartened when I wasn’t able to get tickets when they went on sale originally, and accepted the fact I would have to wait to see Olivia until she toured another time. Yet, low and behold, I received an email a few months later letting me know that they were releasing another sale of tickets and I’d been taken off the waitlist!

With shaky, (TMI maybe) very clammy hands, and a heart rate of 200bpm, I had won the Ticketmaster war and, finally, I was officially going to the Sour tour! I was trying on outfits and making travel preparations that very day, even with there still being a few months left before the show. On top of that, I wanted to do my research on the opener, Holly Humberstone, as I hadn’t listened to her music before. I was immediately a fan, listening to both her and Olivia seemingly on repeat on the weeks leading up to the show.

The day of the show was finally here! My adrenaline was pumping the entire day and I felt like my heart was going to burst the moment I was finally inside the venue. The Roadrunner, which was a brand new venue at the time, was a sight to behold. The floor was already full of people, so I went to the balcony level and, as a short person, it was a blessing in disguise.

Holly absolutely blew me away. I already knew she was talented from listening to her music prior to the show, but seeing her perform live? She played multiple different instruments, ranging from the electric guitar, the piano, and the acoustic guitar, all while singing with the voice of an angel. I had goosebumps during her entire performance and, even writing about this now, I feel chills.

Olivia Rodrigo. What an absolute performer. For such a young artist that blew up in such a short span of time, she seemed to know exactly what she was doing. The intro, which was the opening guitar riff for ‘brutal’ being played multiple times, absolutely built up my adrenaline to what I felt like was a peak in my excitement. Then, the curtain fell, and there the woman of the day was! Not only did she play the entirety of Sour, she also added two covers into the mix, ‘Complicated’ by Avril Lavigne and ‘Seether’ by Veruca Salt, which were undoubtedly fit to her style.

I think fondly of this show often, and still have the butterfly confetti sitting in a jar in my room, the words ‘i hope that ur okay <3’ a lovely reminder of the time I had when I saw her. Olivia Rodrigo not only chose an amazing opener, Holly, but she also put on a show that I believe will live in my mind for years to come.
