Give it up for Beabadoobee! Sorry, now that that’s out of the way.
I wasn’t planning on being up close for this show as I was visiting Boston with my friends and I wasn’t about to sit in line all day while we only had a limited amount of time together. The morning of the show, however, I noticed on the app I had purchased my ticket on originally, AXS, there was an offer for an upgrade; a fast pass, skip the line, not-have-to-wait-all-day-in-line-to-be-up-front pass. So, of course, I bought it! It sold out minutes later, so it was quite lucky timing on my end.
I showed up an hour before doors and wound up being in the second row! For my first time ever seeing her and having this close of a view, it felt too good to be true. Of course, I was excited to see her up close, but I was also excited to actually have the opportunity to take photos from such a close view! While it was certainly going to be hard to hold myself steady enough to capture a still photo, I had faith I would be able to at least get a few good shots.
Lower Town were the first to take to the stage. With a full band, they put on an exhilarating performance. I had managed to listen to a few of their songs before the show, but, even though I didn’t know every word, I enjoyed every minute they were onstage. Their alternative rock sound made me keep track of the names of the songs they were performing so I could be sure to add them all to my playlists after the show was finished.
As it turned out, this show was actually the final run on the Beatopia tour, which I wasn’t aware of until after the fact. Beabadoobee certainly gave it her all, putting on a performance that not only left my legs shaking trying to walk up the stairs to leave the venue, mostly due to the energy I gave during the beginning of the set during ‘10:36’, but also ruined my mascara with my tears I shed, specifically during her acoustic performance of ‘Ripples’. At the end of the show, the crowd were passing along gifts to the stage, such as flowers and, mostly, stuffed red panda animals, as Bea has expressed her love for them online and, henceforth, it seemed to be a common theme to gift to her.
Lower Town, Bea and her band put on a riveting performance from start to finish, and I felt incredibly lucky to have been able to see them so up close. This show is one that I will talk about for years on end and I hope everyone is lucky enough to attend a show such as Beabadoobee’s in their lifetime.
